RARE MEASURING DEVICE

This is a very unusual treenware piece which appears to have held a measure tape for sewing. The finial at the top has a hole that runs through it possibly for thread and the body of the device has a slit that held the tape. The center or body of the piece rotates but due to shrinkage of the wood, it doesn't revolve all the way around anymore. The patina is warm and mellow and definitely shows its age. A truly unique piece! Additional photo is attached by the magnifying glass icon.
