A great hooked rug of a sailing ship in rich, bold colors made from woolen yarns, on a burlap backing. Marine subjects, and ships riding the waves, commemorated in many hooked rugs, were popular scenes in New England seaport towns. There is a strip of blue silk fabric attached to the top of the back of the rug, which allows a dowel to slip through so it can be displayed on the wall. In excellent condition.
