A pair of oil portraits on canvas. There is a paint touch up around the eyes of the man. Also, there are a couple of flakes on the background left of the head. There are a few pinhead size flakes on the woman's hair. There is a scuff 1/2" x 1/4" on the left side of the jacket. Someone wrote "Mrs. Griffin 1798-1862", on the back of the woman. This is an oil portrait of a woman knitting, sitting in a chair. There is a paint touch up to a 4" split running across her left hand and 3" above it. There is 1/2" touch up above the left eye and 1/2" above the left ear. The portrait was relined with new canvas long ago. An attached note says, "Cornealius Beal's Mother", probably written on original canvas. Additional photos are attached by the magnifying glass icon.

A rare, chalkware or plaster of Paris plaque with a portrait bust of a woman in relief. On the reverse side it is incised, "John S. Rohrer, Born 1833". The colors are brown, red, yellow and black. There are bubbles in the glass. There is some minor edge wear, otherwise in excellent condition. An unusual piece of folk art. Ex. Walter E. Simmons collection. A Carte de Visite photograph of John Wilkes Booth. This is an authentic photo taken in the early 1860's, however it is a photo of a photo. The photographer, George P. Nikolai of Covington, Ohio simply took a photograph of another photographer's work, or engaged in copyright infringement. It had been glued in an album. A beautiful pair of American hollow cut silhouettes in original period black painted frames. The pair have black and gold decorated reverse glass painting. There are many bubbles in the old glass. The gentleman has hand painted details and a tiny tear at the bottom of his coat. There are tiny spots of paper loss near his chin and above his nose. The lady is lovely with a frilled collar. A charming, delicately hand painted watercolor of a young girl in a blue dress with red shoes. She is carrying her doll. The old glass has some tiny bubbles and it is in a period pine frame. The measurements are 10 1/8" height by 6 3/4" wide framed. The visible measurements of the watercolor are 7 5/8" height by 4 1/4" wide. A lovely piece!
