A rare and unusual stand designed to hold two hogscraper candle holders, so that there would be ample light to work by. The mortised T-base is extra large and heavy, so that there would be no chance the stand could tip over. The octagonal work shelf is attached to a support cleat fastened by hand wrought rosehead nails. The cleat rests upon a collar notched out of the tapered shaft. The hogscraper support is adjustable and held in place by a threaded stop.
Other than a nail securing a break in the cleat, the stand is in very good condition. The T-base is made of chestnut, the shaft of hickory, the work shelf and hogscraper holder of white pine and the cleat of birch.
