GREAT SALT GLAZED OVOID STONEWARE JUG

A beautiful ovoid shaped stoneware jug with cobalt blue decoration in the form of a "V". There is a 5/8" chip and a 1/2" chip at the base and a 1/4" chip in the middle. There are four hairlines in the glaze, the longest of which measures 7". There are the usual areas of roughness and incomplete glazing done in the making, or kiln flaws.  Additional photos are attached by the magnifying glass icon.

J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD, FORT EDWARD, N.Y. DECORATED STONEWARE JUG

A sandy gray stoneware jug with a simple cobalt blue abstract floral spray. It is marked J.A. & C.W. Underwood, Fort Edward, N.Y.. There are some kiln flaws and an original stone burst on the side. This particular potters mark was only in existence for three years. Overall, in excellent condition. Additional photos are attached by the magnifying glass icon.

RARE STONEWARE HAND WARMER

An unusual oval stoneware hand warmer with brown glaze knobs on each end. One end is threaded and opens up so the hot water can be poured inside. There are no chips or cracks, just some light crazing in the glaze. Otherwise, in excellent condition. Additional photos are attached by the magnifying glass icon.

RARE LYONS NEW YORK STONEWARE CROCK WITH COBALT TULIP DECORATION ATTRIBUTED TO T. HARRINGTON

A beautiful hand made salt glazed stoneware crock with a hand brushed bold cobalt blue tulip decoration. There is chipping damage to the interior, indicating that this piece was used as a churn. There are several kiln flaws, the largest of which is on the front near the base. There is a chip on the handle measuring 1/2" x 1/8". There are small nicks and flakes. The wonderful tulip design is attributed to Thompson Harrington who was with the firm 1852-1872. The crock is a two gallon size. Additional photos are attached by the magnifying glass icon.

GREAT J. & E. NORTON, ONE AND ONE HALF GALLON STONEWARE MILK PITCHER WITH ALBANY SLIP GLAZE

A beautiful one and one half gallon stoneware milk pitcher with an Albany slip glaze, made by Julius and Edward Norton in Bennington, Vermont. Julius and Edward operated the family business from 1850-1859. There are glaze skips at the base and one on the interior surface. There is one 1/2" x 1/4" shallow chip at the base. There are tiny nicks and kiln flaws. All in all, it is in great shape for a utilitarian item from the mid 19th century. Great form! Additional photos are attached by the magnifying glass icon.

WONDERFUL SALT GLAZED STONEWARE JUG WITH A BLUE SLIP DRAGONFLY DECORATION

A wonderful salt glazed two gallon stoneware jug with a blue slip trailed dragonfly decoration. There are a couple of chips at the spout. There are a few kiln flaw stone bursts, original in the making, the largest of which measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/4". A great piece. Additional photos are attached by the magnifying glass icon.

SPONGE DECORATED STONEWARE PIGGY BANK

A wonderful sponge decorated stoneware piggy bank in a small size. The bank has brown, green and yellow sponging with a slip glaze. Some glaze skipping. There is touch up to one ear. Additional photos are attached by the magnifying glass icon.
